#BrightFuture Challenge by Chasing Esme

As parents, we want to make sure that the future is bright for our children, so we take steps to help improve their lives and the environment that they will live in long after our days.

It’s not surprising that 83% of British parents feel the birth of their first child made them want to change some aspect of their lives for the better, whether it’s keeping your house tidier, quitting smoking or helping the environment.

Nine out of 10 parents and 8 out of 10 children agree that if everyone does small things to improve the environment, “together we can make the world a better place”.


I decided to take part in Unilever’s #BrightFuture initiative, which focuses on small changes that can make big differences, and how we can build a world where everyone lives well and lives sustainably.

I always make sure that brands I work with, I genuinely have an interest in and honestly feel can help others. Since the launch of the Sustainable Living Plan, Unilever has helped 482 million people to improve their health and hygiene, including through hand washing, improving self-esteem and oral hygiene.


This is exemplified in the work undertaken by Domestos that has committed to helping 25 million people gain improved access to a toilet by 2020. Access to clean sanitation can protect people from preventable diseases, reduce mortality rates, help reduce school dropout rates and improve quality of life.


I always use Persil, because I feel that it is the best for delicate skin like Esme’s. I’ve tried so many brands other than Persil, but I always find myself returning to their Small and Mighty Non-Bio.

Persil has also backed a global initiative ‘Learning for Tomorrow’ partnering with UNICEF to help give children in some of the world’s toughest areas the opportunity of a quality education, and this is something that I feel is important and needs supporting.

I’m always conscious about my body image. I didn’t worry about it before when I was a size 8 and skinny, but since having Esme I’ve piled on the pounds! I have been working on it, and I’m definitely more toned than I used to be.

But, one of the things I feel is important, is to make sure your skin is feeling healthy and nourished. And, I believe that Dove products are best for keeping your skin feel moisturised.


Building on the aim to improve lives through small steps, the Dove Self-Esteem Project has worked closely with leading psychologists, academics and experts to create materials and resources that help young people develop a positive relationship with their appearance.

The project has now reached over 19 million young lives.
