Life as a news reader for Herald Radio

As many of you will know, I have started working for a radio station that covers Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion, and I absolutely love it!

Herald Radio is another one of Thomas Sinclair’s crazy ideas, and once again he’s pulled it off and created something unique and wonderful, with the help of some fantastic people.

Toby Ellis and Matt Baker have been filling our days for the past week, with fun, excitement and some awesome tunes, coupled with a few impromtu live music sessions!

I have been supplying the news, by writing it and reading it on air.

Herald Radio launched on Tuesday, May 2, and today is one week old. I can’t believe how amazingly this week has gone! The radio station launched at 8am on Tuesday, with Toby Ellis, Rachel George and Chris Lee cutting the virtual ribbon, with lots of applause and laughter.

From there it’s been all systems go! On our first day, the Herald Radio app played out to over 4,000 people. To me that’s an achievement in itself, but that’s not taking into account the amount of people who tuned in through the website and on Facebook Live.

Since Tuesday, it’s been absolutely manic, but I’ve loved every minute. I have received so many friend requests I’ve had to start up my own like page on Facebook so people can follow me and keep up to date with what I’m doing with regards to the radio.

My wonderful other half, Al Muir, also hosts his own Tuesday night Rock Show. Last week, we were treated to some fantastic anthems from the likes of Nirvana, Slayer and The Clash! He’ll be on again tonight between 7pm and 9pm – don’t miss it!

And, speaking of music, rocking out and impromptu music sessions, I dabbled a bit with Facebook Live with Matt Baker, and I appeared live on Herald Radio’s Facebook page singing Valerie by Amy Winehouse.

I’m amazed with how many people had liked, shared and commented. Thank you everyone who has watched it and left lovely comments!

I’m really enjoying my job right now, and I hope everyone tunes in! I can’t wait to see what else Herald Radio will bring – I’m extremely proud to be a part of such a brilliant team and help kickstart a brand new project.

And, let me know what you think of the news!
